In 1981, while Brazil headed for the democratic opening, Expomus was founded with the focus on new possibilities of work stimulated by our Culture. The museums have already emerged as a source of dialogue and comprehension towards the society. This vision – full of significances – guided our first years of activity in the museum segment. It was time to enlarge horizons, to assimilate new ideas, but also to make our contribution so that the world would get to know our country by our multiculturalism.
Museology became our articulating axis, the spinal column from where our activities emanate. In the beginning of the 1990’s, this commitment along with the main museological challenges at the time, led us to roads and tracks of social and environmental projects, expanding our work with new partnerships – either the nonprofit sector, or the public and the private organizations.
In the last decade, we turn the eyes to the issues that expand the space and the discussion on museums, allowing a better access to collections and information by their audience and integrating them to their communities.
In everything we do there is a museological deed, an implicit desire to amplify, to contribute and to disseminate to the society the importance of inheritance, and to recognize the greatness of being able to take possession of one’s own history, records, signs, ways and routes.

How does it work?
The integration between our Collection and Museology teams offers a complete solution to collectors and institutions, whose collections are handled according to the conservation standards of the main Brazilian and International Museums. On the other hand, the museums take in guidance based in the most recent tools of museological management, in accordance to important procedures employed by business and/or non-profit sector management.
Our museological approach to exhibition development assures countenance and efficiency, and also safety of the displayed object. Educational programs are specially developed for our exhibitions, which are evaluated according to international standards.
Our qualified temporary loan management assures safety and support to the implementation of exhibitions in Brazil and overseas, and favors logistics and preventive conservation of works, even during long traveling shows. Detailed procedures of preventive conservation, pick-up, handling, packing, transportation and assembly are followed with technical accuracy in the exhibitions organized by Expomus, as well as in the loan management of exhibitions held by other institutions.
