sequência de exposições que culminam na criação do Museu Afro Brasil, em São Paulo, começa a ser realizada. Em 2001 é inaugurada a exposição Para Nunca Esquecer: Negras Memórias, Memórias de Negros, sob curadoria de Emanoel Araújo. A Expomus participa da coordenação geral, do controle de empréstimo de obras e da realização da exposição. A mostra segue para o Museu Histórico Nacional, no Rio de Janeiro, Galeria de Arte do Sesi, em São Paulo, e Palácio das Artes /Fundação Clóvis Salgado, em Belo Horizonte.
